ESA Earth Explorers are built to demonstrate new space technology and provide answers to key scientific questions – not just for academic gain, but also to help address societal issues that humankind will face in the coming decades such as the availability of food, water, energy and resources, as well as health and climate change.
As part of ESA’s commitment to develop and build satellite missions that push the boundaries of satellite technology and Earth science, four new mission ideas – Cairt, Nitrosat, Seastar and Wivern – have been selected to enter pre-feasibility study and compete to be the eleventh Earth Explorer mission.
Industrial entities with a potential interest in EE11 Mission candidates are invited to join a one-day Mission Information Day The aim of the meeting is:
To increase awareness of EE11 Mission Candidates prior to initiation of Phase-0 system study activities.
The on-line event is designed to provide a summary overview of the scientific elements and challenges of each proposed candidate Earth Explorer 11 (EE11) mission idea, complemented by an introduction to the potential challenges posed by the definition of the system Concept.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for industrial entities with an interest in one or more of the EE11 candidate missions to participate in open Q&A sessions and discussions together with the scientific proponents of each mission and mission advisory group members.
To ensure the meeting can be managed effectively and to manage the number of participants on-line at any one time, each candidate Mission will be discussed in dedicated slots. A general Q&A session will be held at the end of the meeting, after completion of the mission slots.
The event will be implemented as an on-line WebEx meeting.
