Directions to ESTEC
The EMPS symposium will take place at the Space Research and Technology Centre of the European Space Agency (ESA/ESTEC) and is located 35km south-west of Schiphol Amsterdam International Airport.
Travelling by car
Parking is be available on-site at ESTEC but, kindly note that this is limited. We encourage participants to use local public transport links.
ESTEC is located in the southern most part Noordwijk.
From Amsterdam:
Get on the A4 in the direction of Den Haag-Rotterdam. At the junction follow the A44. Next you will take the exit "Noordwijk-Voorhout". Now continue to Noordwijk and from this point you will follow small white signs that indicate "ESTEC".
From Den Haag (The Hague):
You will take the A4 in the direction of Amsterdam and exit at Leiden off ramp. Follow the N206 towards Katwijk and Haarlem. Take the exit "Katwijk Noord". From this point you will follow small white signs that indicate "ESTEC".
Arriving by train
From Schiphol to Leiden there are a regular trains, up to 6 per hour. Sprinter stops at a few stations, intercity is direct. But both do not require transferring and the duration of the trip is almost the same.
Arriving by bus
From Leiden central station to ESTEC you can take buses (nr430 and nr432), 4 per hour. However, it might be that busses are delayed in morning rush hour, so some margin is advised. The bus stops in front of the ESTEC entrance gate. Please note that this bus leaves four times an hour during peak periods and twice an hour during normal hours. Journey time is approx. 30 minutes.
Alternatively you can take Bus 90 from The Hague Central, which stops at the 'Schorpioen' bus stop. To get from this bus stop to ESTEC is only a five minute walk. To plan your trip, visit www.9292.nl.
Arriving by flight
From Schiphol airport, either take a taxi to ESTEC (30 min), or a train to Leiden (20 min) and then the number 430 Arriva bus to Katwijk (30 min). The bus stops in front of the ESTEC entrance gate. By rental car, follow the "Arriving by car" instructions as above from Amsterdam.
