5th  ESA REACH WORKSHOP:
WORKSHOP ON THE EU REACH REGULATION AND ITS IMPACT ON THE SPACE SECTOR

The European Space Agency (ESA) is pleased to organise the 5th edition of our “Workshop on the EU REACH Regulation and its impact on the Space Sector” on Wednesday, 19 June 2024 at ESA ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. We herewith invite you to save the date for this workshop – please register!

At this interactive full-day event (ca. 9:00-17:30) we want to raise once again awareness and discuss the current state of play, challenges, and risks with regards to EU chemicals regulations (mainly REACH/CLP) with experts from competent authorities, agencies, industry (including SMEs) and NGOs. The workshop comes soon after the 2024 European elections (6-9 June 2024), which will also pave the way forward for actions related to the European Green Deal and the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability.

The event will be equally open to interested stakeholders from space agencies and industry, other sectors, NGOs and representatives from the European Commission, ECHA, and ESA member states.

PRELIMINARY AGENDA

The following key topics are foreseen to be addressed, among others:

  • A keynote presentation on REACH and environmental challenges from a Space Sector perspective
  • State of play on REACH and other environmental regulations within ESA member states
  • Universal PFAS restriction proposal
  • Regulatory status of chromates under the authorisation and restriction processes
  • Industrial views and challenges
  • EU-funded project titled ”LETTERSS” (Lead-free Transition for the European Space Sector) – an EU funded project, which commenced in January 2024

In addition to our own experts, the list of invited speakers from authorities, ECHA, EDA, space agencies, industry and NGOs will be confirmed in the coming weeks. 

Format

  • Your physical presence is encouraged. If not possible, online participation will be enabled.
  • Sufficient time will be given to Q&As and background discussions during breaks. 
  • The workshop will culminate in an interactive panel discussion.
  • The event will be free of charge.
