The Industrialist Franz Freiherr von Wertheim commissioned Heinrich Freiherr von Ferstel to build the Palais which was built between 1864 and 1868. At the end of the 19th century, the Director of the Grey Theater in the PALAIS WERTHEIM was the court actress Valerie Grey. Grey was the daughter of a Hungarian General and belonged to the ensemble of the K.u.K. Imperial Palace Theater.
