You are cordially invited to the ESA Mechanisms Section’s annual Space Mechanisms Workshop, which will take place prior to Final Presentation Days. The combined event will take place from 11 - 13 March 2024.

The theme in 2024 is Clean Space. The aim of the workshop is to provide an overview of current and future requirements and guidelines related to Clean Space, particularly considering what this means for space mechanisms. The state of the art of design for demise will be presented, including recent ESA funded R&D on demisable mechanisms. Furthermore, the workshop shall provide a platform to the community to interactively discuss such questions as:

  • How are space mechanisms affected by current and future requirements related to Clean Space
  • What can be done from a space mechanisms point of view to contribute to the Clean Space agenda
  • What are the needs and wishes of large system integrators and new space companies
  • What does it mean (and how) to get involved in designing for demise (D4D) and verifying those designs

The workshop is also an opportunity for attendees to network with other space mechanisms professionals and to stay informed of the latest Clean Space related mechanism technologies developments.

Following several years where the event was held virtually, we are excited to announce that the 2024 edition will once again be an in-person event held at ESA/ESTEC in the Netherlands!

Please note that due to the nature of the information that will be shared, this on-line event can only be attended by participants from entities registered in an ESA Member State, Associate State or Cooperating State. ESA Member states (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom), associated states (Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia) or cooperating states (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Malta).
