ESA, CNES and DLR are proud to present the 2nd European Workshop on On-Board Data Processing (OBDP 2021).

The 2021 edition of the event will be organized as a fully digital event. Participants will be able to view the presentations online and to take part in live discussions and roundtables.
The event aims to bring together experts from the European space agencies, industry and academia and provide a forum for discussion, and a chance to interface with other professionals in the field.
The workshop will cover topics related to on-board data processing for space applications and will include presentations on past, current and future data processing topics, as well as round-tables on the topics of future development of on-board data processing algorithms, systems and devices.

On-board processing has seen an ever increasing interest in the last years, and new methods and techniques are being deployed. These include the in-flight demonstration of artificial intelligence techniques. The introduction of new, processing demanding techniques poses new challenges in the development of on-board processing systems. OBDP 2021 aims to capture the state-of-the-art in on-board processing techniques and on-board systems and devices.

Invited Speakers:

Dr. Swati Mohan (NASA/JPL)

  better data processing

David Evans (ESA)

OPS-SAT: How the increased and more flexible onboard processing has changed the way we operate our satellite

Best Remote Sensing Paper Award:

MDPI Remote Sensing is also sponsoring the OBDP2021 "Best Remote Sensing Paper" Award. The selected contribution will be awarded with free publication on the MDPI Remote Sensing (i.e. waiver of the Article Processing Charges (APC) for publication).

Top-quality papers presented at the workshop are invited to submit an extended version to their Special Issue "On Board Artificial Intelligence: A New Era for Earth Observation Satellites". Please check the deadlines for the manuscript submissions in the website

OBDP paper authors can opt in to participate in the competition for the award in the paper submission portal. Note that the paper must be relevant to the topic of Remote Sensing.
