Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) is the main airport of the Czech Republic. It is located approximately 18 km from downtown Prague. The airport has four passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is currently assigned to non-Schengen flights, and Terminal 2 is used for Schengen flights. The others are used exclusively for exclusive flights and state visits.
Three modes of transportation are available when traveling from Prague Airport to the city: taxi, airport shuttle (AE Line), or public bus.
Taking a Prague Airport Taxi is the most convenient option, and arranging airport transfer via the hotel is of course even better as it gives you some added security. Both services are door-to-door and provide the fastest transfer to Prague. Alternatively, you can take the airport shuttle bus (AE Line). The route is non-stop, direct, and takes about 45 minutes.
Taxis in Prague are usually white or yellow and easily recognisable by the taxi roof signs. Under normal traffic conditions, a Prague Airport taxi to the city takes approximately 35 minutes and approximately 15-20 minutes to the Vienna House by Wyndham Diplomat in Prague.
The official taxi service at the airport is Uber, and you can book your ride using the app, self-service Uber kiosks, or service counters inside the terminal. Once you’ve requested your ride, you can head to the taxi rank and meet your driver.

Note: from Prague Main Railway Station you can take Tram line 2 to Dejvicka (8 minutes) from where it is a 2 minute walk to the Vienna House by Wyndham Diplomat Prague.

A one-way ticket for the AE Express from Prague Airport to the city costs just €4 (CZK 100), making it a great budget choice.
You can purchase your bus tickets either from the Prague Public Transport counters in the Arrivals Halls or from the yellow vending machines at each airport bus stop. You can also buy your tickets from the bus driver using cash or a card.
Remember to validate your ticket using the yellow machine on board the bus.

The Prague Airport Express bus leaves from the bus stop just outside of Terminal 1. You’ll see signs leading you outside to the bus stop.
The Airport Express bus runs from 05:30 until 22:00 and departs every 30 minutes.
You can connect to metro line C at Prague's central train station to get to other areas of the city.
The AE Express tickets are non-transferrable, single-journey, and only valid on the AE line.
There is no extra charge for luggage.
You can also take a public bus from Prague Airport to the city center. However, the journey is not direct and involves transferring onto the metro to central Prague.
There are a few buses that run during the day and at night. Bus 59 (Divoká Šárka – Nádraží Veleslavín) is the most convenient choice. The trip takes about 15 minutes, and you can change onto Metro Line A at Veleslavín Train Station and get off at ‘Staroměstská’ in Old Town.
Another options is bus 191 (Divoká Šárka – Petřiny – Anděl). The service takes around 50 minutes, and you can change onto Metro Line A at ‘Petřiny’ or Metro Line B at ‘Anděl’. Finally, you can take bus 100, which goes towards ‘Zličín’ (yellow Metro Line B) and is a wise option if you are traveling to the western part of the city.
If you arrive at night, you can catch one of the night services: buses 910 and 907. Line 910 takes you to ‘I.P. Pavlova station’ in the city center in around 40 minutes, whereas bus 907 gets you to ‘Hradčanská’ in 30 minutes.

Public bus tickets are part of the PID tariff, which means you can buy tickets that are valid for different durations. A 30-minute short-term ticket costs €1.20 (CZK 30), and a 90-minute ticket costs €1.60 (CZK 40).
You can buy your tickets using the Prague Integrated Transport system (PID) app or from the driver using cash or contactless payment. You can also buy them from the automated machines and kiosks in the arrivals hall.
PID tickets are valid on trams, the metro, buses, ferries, and trains in Prague.
Where do I get the bus from? |
All public buses stop at the bus stops directly outside Terminals 1 and 2. To get there, exit Arrivals and follow the signs. Line 59 departs every 3-10 minutes. Bus 100 leaves every 10-20 minutes, and bus 191 runs every 5-30 minutes. The night buses leave every 30-60 minutes.
Public buses run 24 hours a day from Praha Airport. The metro trains run from 05:00 to 00:00.
If you buy the ticket before boarding the bus, don't forget to validate it using the machines on board.
Short term bus tickets are valid for 30 or 90 minutes for all public means of transport.

Please note that if you land after 23:00, you'll probably have to take the night buses 907 or 910. The 907 is the quickest, taking roughly 30 minutes to get to Hradčanská. Don't forget that the metro doesn't run at this time of night either.
