Conference Themes

Additive Manufacturing
All aspects of additive manufacturing including powder procurement and analysis, part design, printing of parts, finishing technologies, non-destructive inspection and testing of parts.

Joining Technologies
All welding technologies including arc, power beam and solid state welding. Bonding using adhesives, and mechanical fasteners.

Composite Manufacturing
All issues related to the manufacturing of metal, polymer (thermoset or thermoplastic), and ceramic matrix composites.  Design and production of parts, testing and inspection.

3D-printed ceramic parts made from lunar regolith, Lithoz GmbH, Austria

Digital Manufacturing
Use of embedded sensors for in-line process control (e.g. temperature, pressure, stress, acoustics) or operational feedback. Remote and Process diagnostics. Development of Smart Factories and Digital Twins. Development of process simulation tools, ICME and Virtual testing.

Surface Engineering
Aspects relating to corrosion protection coatings and systems. Surface preparation and cleaning, e.g. for coating and bonding.  Other techniques such as laser or mechanical peening.

Electronic Materials and Processes
Aspects related to electronic assembly and printed circuit board manufacturing, high density interconnection, additive and semi-additive processes, new space, green (lead-free, solderless) electronics, modelling & simulation

Testing of an Isogrid structure, Airbus DS, Madrid, Spain

Modelling of tensile coupons, VTT, Finland

Out of Earth Manufacturing
Production of parts in orbit for robotic (e.g. large antennas, booms) or human spaceflight applications (e.g. ISS). Manufacturing of structures and parts on planet/lunar surfaces including moon village concepts, processing of regolith and the manufacturing of large structures.

Smart Materials
The development of materials that respond to external stimulus, either reversible or irreversible. This includes reaction to temperature, light, pressure, electricity, or pH.

Emerging Materials
Novel materials concepts that provide ground-breaking performance properties such as bio-based materials for sustainable applications, structural materials for transportation needs, hierarchical and multi-functional materials, smart materials, wearable sensors, and life-saving materials for biomedical applications. The focus should be on the synthesis, characterisation, modelling, and performance testing of novel and innovative materials.
