Recent Scientific Advances in Global Navigation Satellite Systems and Technologies

Papers are invited for a special topical issue of Elsevier’s Advances in Space Research (ASR) entitled Recent Scientific Advances in Global Navigation Satellite Systems and Technologies. This publication covers the main themes and topics of the Colloquium and will represent for authors an excellent opportunity for a peer reviewed publication. 

ASR Special Issue – FAQs

Q: Is the ASR special issue conditional to the submission of a full paper for the Colloquium proceedings?

A: No. The two processes are not related. You may or may not submit a paper for the Colloquium proceedings. The papers for the Colloquium proceedings will not be reviewed.

Q: Will selected authors formally invited to submit a paper, or may any participant/author from the Colloquium submit a manuscript for consideration in the Special Issue?

A: Everyone (even people not attending the Colloquium) is invited to submit a paper. There will be no special invitations to selected participants. Moreover, the topic of the submitted paper may be different from that presented during the colloquium, as long as it fits the main topic of the special issue. 

Q: Is submission limited to papers directly associated with presentations delivered during the Colloquium?

A: Not necessarily. Other GNSS-related papers may be accepted as long as in scope with the ASR special issue topics. However, all papers will be subject to a peer-review process with the same requirements as for the regular papers in Advances in Space Research.  

Q: Once a manuscript is submitted, what is the expected timeline for the peer-review process?

A: For each review cycle, the reviewers have 21 days to provide review reports. There will be at least 2 reviewers for each paper. Therefore, the minimum time is about 5 weeks from the original submission, provided that no major revision is requested by the reviewers. If a major revision is requested, the review cycle must be repeated, so the total review cycle will last about 9-10 weeks (depending also on the author's response). 

Q: Is there a specific deadline for reviewers to complete their reviews and for authors to submit revised manuscripts?

A: Yes. The nominal time is 21 days for reviewers and 27 days for authors, which can be extended upon request.
