Message from Véronique Ferlet-Cavrois, Chairwoman of the 12th European Space Power Conference

The upcoming ESPC will be very special. It will be held in Juan-les-Pins, Côte d’Azur, France, from 30 September to 4 October 2019, marking the 30th anniversary of the ESPC, since 1989. This year, 2019, is also the 50th anniversary of the first human Moon landing, a striking event in the Space Era.

The theme of ESPC 2019 is “Space Power, Achievements and Challenges”. We will bring together experience and knowledge in our field as well as looking forward to the future directions and milestones.
The plenary session on Monday 30 September 2019 will reflect this theme with inspiring invited speakers addressing major technical challenges in the morning, followed by an afternoon dedicated to the Space Prime Contractors’ perspectives on challenges in space and space power.

The days after, Tuesday to Friday, will be specialised with three parallel sessions on Power Management, Power Generation and Energy Storage. There will be also a large industrial exhibition (open for the full week) and a poster session. The technical visits and social events will be outstanding and memorable, at a level befitting this special ESPC.

The attendees will also discover Juan-les-Pins, charming and sunny on the seaside of the beautiful Mediterranean. Juan-les-Pins is the French jazz city, having an annual festival in July but remaining a lively and pleasant resort year-round.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Juan-les-Pins,

Véronique Ferlet-Cavrois

Message from Mariel Triggianese, ESPC 2019 Technical Programme and Organising Committee Coordinator

The European Space Power Conference traditionally gathers space power specialists from many countries and its success relies not only on the presented papers (around 150) and on the high quality tutorials and workshops but also on the industrial exhibition, which facilitates networking and professional interactions among the space power community.

The 12th European Space Power Conference is organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) with the support of Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), Airbus Defense and Space, Prototech AS a NORCE Company, University of Valencia and Thales Alenia Space.

The conference will address topics in the fields of: Power Generation; Energy Storage; Power Management and Distribution; Components and IC Technologies for Power Applications. Please visit the Topics page for the complete list.

In each of the fields, we welcome contributions that will show early results of future technologies, original implementation of new (or old) functions, use of new components or assembly techniques or future concepts. Furthermore, we encourage the sharing of lessons learnt! Papers addressing both positive and negative lessons learnt will be highly appreciated.

Companies and universities, whose participation is the necessary ingredient of a successful technical forum, are invited to present their ideas or products during the 12th ESPC. Palais de Congress in Juan-les-Pins, France ( http://www.antibesjuanlespinscongres.com/ ) is going to host the ESPC2019 and it also offers a choice of exhibition booths and services.

Should you need more details, please do not hesitate to contact the organising committee at the following e-mail address: espc2019-conference@esa.int

I am looking forward to welcoming you at the conference next October in Cote d’Azur!

With my best regards,

Mariel Triggianese
