Landing at Athens airport and looking for your way to downtown Athens? Plenty of options are available! Depending on your budget, time and needs, you can choose among airport taxis, metro and buses. Athens Airport Metro Line
Athens airport subway offers reliable and fast transportation services from and to Athens airport. The Blue Line (Metro Line 3) connects Athens International Airport to Athens city centre (Syntagma Square), the major hub of the city, in just 40 minutes.

A one-way subway ticket from Athens airport to Syntagma Square costs 10€ for adult passengers. The price for a return ticket is 18€. You can purchase your tickets at the airport station ticket booths.

You can also purchase a 3-day tourist ticket, valid for buses, metro and tram. It includes a return ticket to Athens airport and costs 22€.

Athens airport subway trains run daily, from 06:30 am to 11:30 pm. The metro trains depart from El. Venizelos every 30 minutes.

Athens airport metro station is located at the Departures Level. The station building is connected to the main terminal via a passageway. You will easily reach the metro station in just 5 minutes following the airport’s signage “To Trains”.

Taxi Transfer from Athens Airport
A taxi ride from the airport to the city centre will take approximately 35-40 minus depending on traffic levels. The cost is about 40€ during the day time (5:00 am - 00:00 am).

Make sure the taxi driver has reset the taximeter when entering your cab and always ask for a receipt at the end of your journey. Furthermore, always pick a taxi from the official taxi rank and avoid random individuals offering transfer services. The official taxi rank of El. Venizelos is located just outside the Arrivals Level. Simply take Exit 3 and you will find the Athens airport taxis queuing up in front of you.

Bus Transfer from Athens Airport
If you are looking for the cheapest transfer option from Athens airport to Athens city centre, then the Athens airport bus is for you.

When Athens center is the final destination, bus X95 is the right route for you. Syntagma Square is the most central area of the city. Taking bus X95 will get you there in about 60 minutes, depending on the roads’ congestion. First route starts at 00:00 am and the last route is at 11:55 pm.

Athens airport local bus tickets are only one-way and cost 6€ for adults. Tickets are available from the airport ticket offices or onboard and the bus stop is located at the Arrivals Level, between Exits 4 and 5.
