About the workshop „Space Mechanisms Legacy from New ESA players“
The upcoming event is oriented to new dynamic sprouting actors of the European space mechanisms sector that will present their background, achievements and developments regarding mechanisms relevant for space applications. 

Industries from the different states as identified below, will be welcome to share their experiences in mechanisms developments as part of previous achievements that are already or could be relevant for  space applications.
The topics that will be addressed during this workshop are expected to cover a wide range of thematic  such as, but not limited to, Hold –down and release mechanisms, gimbal mechanism, electrical motors, lubricants, simulation capabilities.
Additionally, companies are invited to present some information on the socio-economic impact of their developments. This is an important and valued part of our effort to improve the effectiveness and understanding of developments of space mechanisms.

The states invited to present are:
 1- NEW ESA Players (New Member States)  Responsive image
  • Romania became ESA's 19th Member State on 22 December 2011
  • Poland exchanged Accession Agreements with ESA in September 2012 , to become the 20st Member State
  • Estonia, which signed the Accession to the ESA Convention on 4 February 2015, to become the 21st Member State 
  • Hungary, which signed the Accession to the ESA Convention on 24 February 2015, to become the 22nd Member State. 
2- Younger ESA Players 
  • Czech Republic formally became ESA's 18th Member State on 12 November 2008
  • Luxembourg formally became ESA's 17th Member State on 30 June 2005.
  • Greece formally became ESA's 16th Member State on 22 March 2005 
3-European states having Cooperation Agreements with ESA:
  • Bulgaria,
  • Croatia,
  • Cyprus,
  • Latvia, 
  • Lithuania,
  • Malta                                                                                                                                                                                  ESA Member State (ESA, 2013)
  • Slovakia
The workshop will consist of oral presentations folloowed by some Q&A. Additional poster and exposition models, highlighting the recently completed technology contracts and the achievements in the mechanism technology programme will be welcome and can be exposed at the back of the conference room,.
Furthermore this workshop intend also to foster possible cooperation between all the registered players and their participants .

This cooperation will be further promoted by the organisation of Business-to-Business meetings which are an essential part of this workshop.

Furthermore this workshop intend also to foster possible cooperation between all the registered players and their participants.

This cooperation will be further promoted by the organisation of Business-to-Business meetings which are an essential part of this workshop.

It would be an opportunity for the registered participants to increase their professional network through pre-organised face to face meetings. By doing so, we believe it can gather inspiration and motivation to improve future developments, new ideas and can also blossom new cooperation between the companies participating to this event.

Participation in the Mechanisms Workshop and the final presentation days are free of charge.
However, please note that participation is limited in number and registration is required to gain access to ESTEC.

Please consider the following points for your participation: 

Please register on the conference website for each event of your interest.
  • The speaking time is strictly limited to 20 minutes followed by 5 minutes Q&A and hand over to the next presenter.
  • The abstract or file containing the slides should be sent to the contact person here below by 31 January 2019 End of business at the latest.
  • The acceptable file formats are PowerPoint or Adobe PDF. 
  • If you wish to bring any exposition model of your developments please inform the ESA Conference Bureau by sending an email to: esaconferencebureau@atpi.com and to the contact person here below as the room will have limited place for expositions. 
  • Industries presenting for the workshop shall only include 1 max 2 slides in their presentation that summarises the socio-economic benefits of Space developement, (e.g. follow-on developments/ future development plans, commercial interest in the technology/product, financial investments made, patents filed, jobs created/sustained, commercial sales realised, etc.).
  • The projection screen has an aspect ratio of 16:9, so it is recommended to have the slides in this ratio. The PC has a resolution of 1920 X 1080, as well known as Full HD. If you intend to show a movie, please provide the movie file as well (so not only embedded in the presentation).
  • Your presentation should be uploaded at least 15 minutes before the session starts. Please upload your presentation on the PC, using a USB memory key. Support will be available during the conference.
  • Presenters should arrive in the meeting room at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the session and should inform the chairperson.

Poster Presentations

  • Poster can have a maximum dimension of 90cm wide and 140cm tall.
  • Push pins will be available at the registration desk.
  • Please bring a printed poster. No printing facilities are available at ESTEC.
  • Authors are strongly encouraged to produce a single sheet rather than using multiple sheets of smaller-sized paper.
  • Authors will be assigned a number corresponding to the associated board. Please refer to the corresponding Table displayed next to the registration desk.
  • Posters will be on display during the entire workshop. 
  • Posters need to be removed at the end of the workshop. Any poster left will be removed by the organizers.
