Everything there that makes life worth living

At the latest since the Federal Horticultural Show 2019, Heilbronn has been known as a lively city on the Neckar.

The city's landscape is captivating, with gentle vineyards extending to the outskirts, the river in the center and recreational areas such as the Köpfertal and extensive city parks. St. Kilian Church dates back to the 13th century, with an octagonal Renaissance tower and a Gothic altarpiece. The Town Hall facade has a 16th-century astronomical clock.

The green city offers a high recreational value, for residents as well as for visitors. It is less well known that Heilbronn is one of the most successful cities in Germany.

There is hardly any other region in Germany where so many medium-sized, world-leading companies can be found. Thanks to a unique funding culture, science and the start-up scene are prospering.

The symbol of this development is the Bildungscampus (educational campus) right in the center of Heilbronn with institutions such as the Technical University of Munich, the Fraunhofer Institute, the University of Cooperative Education of Baden-Württemberg (Duale Hochschule), the Hochschule Heilbronn, and the renowned IT cadre school 42.

The unique mix of top-level research and an economic area characterized by global players and hidden champions make Heilbronn to a magnet for researchers from all over the world.

Heilbronn is home of the Experimenta, the largest science center in Germany. A unique 25,000 m² world of knowledge and experience is opening with 275 interactive exhibits, four creative studios and nine labs as well as an observatory and an extraordinary Space Dome with spectacular live science demonstrations.

With a population of around 126.000, Heilbronn is cozy, but at the same time exudes urban flair with a wide range of cultural institutions, gastronomy and a lively city center.

Heilbronn residents and visitors can relax on the gastronomic mile along the Neckar River.

While inline skaters and cyclists make their way between tables and umbrellas on the banks of the Neckar, beside pedal boats and excursion boats, stand-up paddlers and rowers conquer the river.

Wine has been grown here for more than 1250 years. This makes Heilbronn the oldest wine town in Baden-Württemberg.

Naturally, this has shaped the city's culture. There are many pleasurable experiences to enjoy:
The best place to experience Heilbronn’s wine is where it grows, for example at the wine bar on the ‘Wein Panorama Weg am Wartberg’. (Wine Panorama Trail on the Wartberg mountain). But also, the city center offers numerous opportunities to experience Heilbronn's passion for wine, e.g. the wine pavilion at the Neckarbühne or the classicistic Wein Villa with its own vinotheque and the approximately further 30 wineries.
