RETALT (RETro propulsion Assisted Landing Technologies) is a EU Funded H2020 project (grant agreement No. 821890) aiming at investigating the key technologies to make reusable vertical landing launchers state-of-the-art in Europe. The technologies investigated are: Aerodynamics, Aerothermodynamics, Flight Dynamics and Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Structures, Mechanisms, Thrust Vector Control and Thermal Protection Systems. The project concentrates on technologies which need to be adapted from conventional expandable launchers to enable them to descent and land with the aid of retro propulsion. The targeted Technology Readiness Level to be reached by the end of the project (August 2022) is 5 for Aerodynamics, Aerothermodynamics, Structures, Mechanisms and Thermal Protection Systems, and 3 for Flight Dynamics and Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC). The consortium consists of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), CFS Engineering, DEIMOS Space, MT Aerospace, Almatech and Amorim Cork Composites.
We are proud to present the project outcomes in a special track at the FAR. Aerodynamic wind tunnel models and large structural and mechanical demonstrators will be presented in an exhibition booth.
