The workshop will be held over 2 days with 4 main sessions presenting different topics, from remote sensing techniques for the detection of accumulations of litter and debris on the sea, along rivers, and on land close to waterways, to novel techniques, data processing approaches, the use of Artificial Intelligence, potential services, and business applications.
The term “Remote Sensing” is not limited to the satellite domain, but can also include other platforms such as airplanes, remotely piloted aircraft systems (drones), ship-based and fixed systems on the ground (e.g., monitoring systems over rivers or on the shoreline), that can provide ground truth or complementarity and synergy with higher altitude platforms in view of supporting an Integrated Marine Debris Observing System (IMDOS).
