This is a workshop is organised by an industrial partner,  qtlabs, as a supporting program to the Scylight 2026 Conference. The content of the event, as well workshop programme, have been developed by qtlabs independently and without ESA involvement. Participation entails an additional fee and is not included in the conference registration.

This workshop explores foundational concepts as well as technical aspects of Satellite-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). 

The workshop provides a profound understanding of Quantum Information which we apply hands-on in protocols for creating and sharing unbreakable Quantum Keys.

We deep-dive into the technical requirements for implementing different protocols for Satellite-based Quantum Key Distribution such as sources for single and entangled photons, Optical Ground Receivers and link budget estimations. Finally, we will discuss security aspects of real-world implementations of QKD.
