Conference Objectives

Optical and Quantum communications technologies are evolving rapidly and the 6th Annual ScyLight conference is an opportunity for those involved – directly or indirectly - to present and discuss recent advances and future progress that has been made in the optical communication domain. The event aims to facilitate networking and help participants to connect with each other, to establish new cooperation opportunities and to enhance existing ones. 

The conference will be organised around the following topics:

  • Optical Communication Technology at System Level
  • Future and challenges of Optical Communication Technologies
  • Trends and challenges of Intra-Satellite Photonics / Optical Payloads
  • Space based Quantum Communication Technologies – today and tomorrow

Concretely, following sessions are currently being planned:

  • Agency, National and Institutional Plans 
  • State of the Art – Primes and Operators         
  • Optical Communication Technologies
  • Quantum Communication Technologies          
  • Photonics  
  • Ground Stations Technologies       

Workshop – Quantum Internet

This year the annual conference will be followed by a short Workshop on the topic of the “Quantum Internet”. This half day workshop will be held in the city of Kalavryta, and will feature thought leadership presentations and present opportunities for  on discussions of the topic. There is also the potential for a visit to the Greek Optical Ground station Helmos (weather permitting). 

Transportation to and from Kalavryta from Athens will be provided on the day for interested participants.
