Conference Dinner - Hortus botanicus Leiden
The conference dinner will take place in the orangery at Hortus botanicus, Rapenburg 73 in Leiden.
The Hortus botanicus Leiden is the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands and Western Europe, founded in 1590 in the city center of Leiden. Since then, the site has continued to expand to a size of approximately 4 hectares, or approximately 5.5 football fields. After the foundation of Leiden University in 1575, the desire arose for a herb garden for the education of medical students. In 1590, the plot of land behind the Academy Building, the university building on the Rapenburg, was transferred from the municipality to the university. And so the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands was founded.
