The OBPDC workshop will take place at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. The Auditorium opened its doors to the public for the first time in 1997. Since then, this space, named after the most internationally renowned and beloved Canary Islands tenor, has become a landmark for culture in the Gran Canaria capital, essential for hosting conferences and all kinds of events, and an emblem of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria worldwide.
The building that houses the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, designed by the architect Óscar Tusquets, is one of the most unique and representative constructions in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Situated at the end of Las Canteras Beach, this isolated and autonomous fortress was conceived as a lighthouse to signal and protect the city.
Its construction, between 1993 and 1997, was a real shake-up for this area of the city - to which it gave a new life - and reactivated a cultural sector that demanded a multifunctional venue to host events of all kinds.
In this building, beauty and functionality come together to offer, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, a space of 16,750 square meters of useful surface, with 25 rooms that can accommodate up to 4,600 people.
Along with the rooms, the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium has large interior spaces for rest and leisure, extended to the outside through a privileged area of the city where the promenade that borders the five kilometers of Las Canteras beach can be seen.
The Gran Canarian artist and architect Juan Bordes is the author of the sculptures that are a recreation of the marine fauna of Las Canteras beach present both inside and on each of its facades, which delves into the integration of the building with the landscape.
A virtual tour of the interior of the auditorium is well worth it. Click HERE.
The conference will take place in the magnificent Atlántico room, directly connected to the Paseo de las Canteras and that can accommodate more than 100 people. Please take a virtual visit in this LINK.
The privileged location of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium at the northern entrance to the city allows quick access from the main points of arrival to the Island (seaports and airport), through modern highways. Likewise, access from the main tourist areas is resolved in journeys lasting 5 to 30 minutes. Near the Auditorio building there are large secure parking areas, with capacity for 2,000 tourism vehicles. Near the building there is a taxi rank, as well as several urban bus stops (Guaguas Municipales) and interurban buses (Global), which make it possible to travel comfortably to any point in the city and the island.
Our recommendation is that if you stay in nearby hotels, go to the conference walking along Las Canteras beach, which will not take more than half an hour. If you prefer the bus, lines 47 (https://www.guaguas.com/lineas/47), 17 (https://www.guaguas.com/lineas/17) and 25 (https://www.guaguas.com/lineas/25), will take you to the Auditorio from different points of the city.
