Social Events

Aside from the technical programme during FAR 2025, there are several social activities organised to network with colleagues from across the world. The Pre-registration Reception, the Icebreaking Cocktail and the Gala Dinner are part of the programme for all regular registrations. The student registration includes only the Pre-registration Reception, while tickets for the Icebreaking Cocktail and Gala Dinner can be purchased during registration.

Pre-registration Reception

All those who have arrived on Sunday, for example after joining the Lecture Day, are invited to pre-register and join us for an informal pre-registration reception at the conference venue, Palais des Congrès.

Ice Breaking Cocktail

The Icebreaking Cocktail on the first day of the conference will be the perfect occasion to celebrate the start of the conference, meet familiar and new faces in the FAR community, and provide an opportunity to network and discuss with the other participants.

The Icebreaking Cocktail will be a casual event in the form of a standing cocktail, hosted at Arcachon’s Food Market Hall, a cosy authentic place that will be privatised to FAR parcitipants for the evening. You will be able to wander along markets stalls that will be opened especially for you, taste food, beverages and delicacies provided by local merchants: oysters, Basque cheese, local cold cuts, Basque desert, canelés, …

The Market Hall is within walking distance from the Palais des Congrès and will be easy to reach.

Gala Dinner

On Wednesday evening, the conference Gala Dinner will be held in one of the most beautiful and famous places of Arcachon for that kind of event: the building of the “Tir au Vol”, situated in the Abatilles(1), district of Arcachon.

This elegant building, built in the Belle Époque style, was long used as a hunting lodge where people practiced skeet shooting, before being transformed into a space dedicated to culture and social events in the late 70’s. The place then got its new name in reference to this old time use (literally, “Tir au Vol” means “shoot something flying”).

Surrounded by magnificent gardens and overlooking the Bay of Arcachon, the location offers breathtaking views. We are very pleased with the perspective of sharing a fantastic evening with you at this iconic place of Arcachon.

Transportation to and from the Gala Dinner venue will be arranged.

(1) Abatilles is also a spring water brand, which is drawn from the water table in a facility situated nearby in the same district. The source is 472 meters (over 1500 feet) deep. This facility can be visited with reservation at Arcachon Tourism Office
